DALIA
Orphaned when raiders razed her home, Dalia grew up under the tutelage of an old blacksmith who saw in her an extraordinary amount of ingenuity and resourcefulness. She quickly learned to forge the full range of wares and over the years took on more and more of the responsibilities, eventually running the business when the blacksmith passed away. While working on a crossbow stirrup, she discovered an old sickle wedged behind a stack of iron rods and felt an immediate connection to it. She fashioned an ornate handle for it and shined up the ancient blade.
The rising thefts of shops in the village made cause for the not-infrequent use of the rounded blade, once meant for harvesting grain, but now repurposed for imposing justice onto those who preyed upon the weak. Dalia took to traveling alone and only navigating the streets of Helme in the dark of night to avoid unnecessary interaction. This occasionally still leads to late encounters with unfortunate drunken thieves. Those who mistakenly believe her to be a wise choice of targets are met swiftly by the unassuming sickle resting in her sleeve.
The obvious damage that can be done with the sickle in close quarters is often overshadowed by the massive precision Dalia demonstrates when flinging the rounded blade at a distance. It spins furiously through the air in an arc that strikes with ultra accurate precision, then continues its trajectory to land quietly back in her grasp.
Having closed the shop, but still utilizing the space and its tools, Dalia has architected several intricate contraptions that have become essential to her daily life. She perfected a technique of embedding bits of iron thread into fabric to create the ultra-protective cloak and scarf that have saved her from countless close calls. In earlier years, she sculpted a famed collection of enchanted arachnid-shaped jewelry that would come to life and attack at their owners' will.
